2025 Grant Cycle for Patricia and Nicolaas Kortlandt Memorial Fund Open June 11th

Warrenton, VA June 3, 2025— The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the 2025 grant cycle for the Patricia and Nicolaas Kortlandt Memorial Fund. Starting on June 11th through July 7th, the Foundation will accept proposals for projects that directly serve the residents of Fauquier County.

Established to strengthen the fabric of the community, the Kortlandt Memorial Fund supports impactful, result-driven nonprofit initiatives. Eligible applicants must be a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that provides services to residents within Fauquier County.

This year, the Kortlandt grant cycle will emphasize deeper investment by awarding fewer grants at higher funding levels, with an estimated 5 to 10 grants awarded. Each grant will begin at $10,000 and is intended to provide meaningful support for projects that demonstrate measurable, long-term impact. This strategic approach is designed to maximize the effectiveness of each funded initiative. By concentrating resources on a smaller number of high-impact projects, the Foundation aims to amplify outcomes and advance sustainable solutions that strengthen the broader community.

“By investing more substantially in a select number of initiatives, we aim to create meaningful and lasting change in Fauquier County” said Jim LaGraffe, Executive Director of the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation. “We’re looking for proposals with clearly defined goals, strong potential for broad community impact, and a spirit of collaboration. Projects that foster partnerships to address systemic challenges or enhance the effectiveness of existing services will receive priority consideration.”

All eligible nonprofits are strongly encouraged to schedule a conversation with a Northern Piedmont Community Foundation Program Officer prior to submitting their grant proposal.
